- What appeal does the Apostle Paul make to the church at Rome? What does this mean for the church today?
- What does he mean by the mercies of God? What mercies? [Hint: What do the first 11 chapters say about God’s mercy in Christ towards us? Read: Romans 3:22-24; 5:1-5;
6:4; 8:1] - Do you ever stop and ponder God’s mercy towards you? Why do we need God’s mercy and grace? Why does it matter?
- What does it mean to present your bodies as a living sacrifice? What is a sacrifice? An Old Testament sacrifice took the life of an animal. So what does Paul mean by a living sacrifice? How does this relate to what Jesus did for us?
- How are our lives to become a living sacrifice? What does verse 2 tell us about becoming a living sacrifice?
- What does it mean to conform to the world? How are we shaped by cultural patterns?
What are the most obvious worldly, cultural patterns we observe in our world today? - How are we transformed by the renewal of our minds? How does the Word of God transform our minds? How does the work of the Holy Spirit transform our minds?
