What Would Jesus Say Session 12: Do Not Be Anxious

 

Matthew 6:33 — “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Read Matthew 6:25-34

  1. What are some of the things that cause you anxiety? What is the opposite of anxiety?
  2. Verse 25 starts out with the instruction to not be anxious about what we eat, drink and wear. Do those define your life is so how, if not why?
  3. Jesus asks the question, “Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?” How would you answer that and why would you give that answer?
  4. In Verse 33 Jesus answers His own question by stating, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” What does that mean? How do we do that?
  5. In verse 26, Jesus refers to the birds and then He asks, “Are you not of more value than they?” How do you measure your worth? How does the Lord measure your worth?
  6. In verse 30, Jesus ends his statement by saying, “O you of little faith.” How does what we believe affect our anxiety?
  7. In verse 32 Jesus says, “Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.” What do you know to be true about your loving heavenly Father?
  8. If your heavenly Father knows what you need, how does that affect your perspective on what you need versus what you want?
  9. What have been some of your past experiences of God’s provision? How could that affect your attitude as you consider the future?
