Planted Session 11: Craving The Truth

 

I Peter 2:2 — “Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation.”

[Read 1 Peter 1:24-2:3]

  1. What illustration are we given in 1 Peter 2:2? What does the Apostle Peter mean by “pure spiritual milk”? What does it tell us in 1 Peter 1:24-25?
  2. Identify the two directives the Apostle Peter gives the church in 1 Peter 2:1-3. What does it mean to “put away” malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander? What does it mean to “grow up into salvation”?
  3. In summary, the Apostle Peter is reminding us that our approach to the Word of God matters for our growth and maturity in our relationship with Christ. Why is it essential for you to have the right mindset as you read the Bible? Why is it vital for us to read the Bible with a proper heart posture?
  4. How does “putting away” sin help us approach the Word of Truth, the Bible? How does unconfessed sin or idolatry hinder our devotional life? Can you give a personal example?
  5. A newborn’s natural longing is for their mother’s milk. God has created us to naturally long for the truth of His Word. How have you seen this in your life? Can you give some personal examples?
  6. What does the Apostle Peter mean when he says, “If you have tasted that the Lord is good”?
  7. How have you experienced the goodness of the Lord in your life? Can you give a personal and relevant example?
  8. How have these verses helped you grow and mature in your relationship with Christ? How can you encourage someone else with these verses?
