What Would Jesus Say Session 7: Blessed Are The Peacemakers
Matthew 5:8 — “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called ‘Sons of God’”
When does peace seem illusive, impossible, or difficult? Where do conflicts exist?
Read Matthew 5:1-9
- What does history tell us about peace efforts? How have leaders tried to make peace?
- It can be tempting to avoid conflict or avoid topics? Does that help? Why or why not?
- How would you describe the source of conflicts? (Jeremiah 17:9)
- What is Paul saying to his churches when he writes “Grace to you and Peace from God.”
- Read 2 Corinthians 5:16-20; What do those verses say to us about where peace comes from? How does reconciliation relate to peace?
- What is the role of an ambassador regarding peace?
- Paul took on the role of peacemaker between Onesimus and Philemon. Read Philemon verses 8-18 to get the context. How did Paul help bring about peace between them?
- Scripture gives us many promises of peace, name some. Some to consider James 3:17-18; Galatians 3:25-29 are a couple of options.
- What does it mean to be a Son of God?
