Planted Session 5: The Wisdom of God
Proverbs 9:10 – “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.”
- What makes a person wise? How can we gain wisdom? It might be helpful to define wisdom and what makes the wisdom of God different from general wisdom.
[Read Proverbs 3:5-8]
- What does it mean to trust in the Lord with all your heart? How is that in contrast to leaning on your own understanding?
- When is it easy for us to trust in the Lord and when do we return to leaning on our own understanding? How can you apply this to your life?
- What does it mean to acknowledge the Lord in general? What about acknowledging Him in all of our ways?
- What type of ways can you personally testify about God’s greatness? Touch on how His greatness affects your own life.
- How would you describe a person who is wise in their own eyes? How do they come across to others?
- If God’s perspective is always wise, how can we see things from His perspective rather than our own?
- What type of response do you have to the statement “fear the Lord”? How do you balance that with the statements about God’s love? What is a healthy way to fearing the Lord?
- Verse 8 is an encouraging statement about healing and refreshment. How does God’s wisdom lead to healing and refreshment for us?
- How can we see Jesus in this scripture? You can also find him in the personification of wisdom.
