Planted Session 5: The Wisdom of God

Proverbs 9:10“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.”

 

  1. What makes a person wise? How can we gain wisdom? It might be helpful to define wisdom and what makes the wisdom of God different from general wisdom.

[Read Proverbs 3:5-8]  

  1. What does it mean to trust in the Lord with all your heart? How is that in contrast to leaning on your own understanding?
  2. When is it easy for us to trust in the Lord and when do we return to leaning on our own understanding? How can you apply this to your life?
  3. What does it mean to acknowledge the Lord in general? What about acknowledging Him in all of our ways?
  4. What type of ways can you personally testify about God’s greatness? Touch on how His greatness affects your own life.
  5. How would you describe a person who is wise in their own eyes? How do they come across to others?
  6. If God’s perspective is always wise, how can we see things from His perspective rather than our own?
  7. What type of response do you have to the statement “fear the Lord”? How do you balance that with the statements about God’s love? What is a healthy way to fearing the Lord?
  8. Verse 8 is an encouraging statement about healing and refreshment. How does God’s wisdom lead to healing and refreshment for us?
  9. How can we see Jesus in this scripture? You can also find him in the personification of wisdom.
