- What happens in the Genesis account in Chapter 3 of our text? [Give a full overview]
- In verse 1, we are immediately introduced to The serpent. What are we told in Genesis about The serpent? In other sections of Scripture we are given some insight into who this is. What does it say about The serpent in Revelation 12:9?
- What is the first thing that The serpent says to Eve? What does this tell us about Satan? What does this tell us about the way Satan deceives us? Is there evidence in our lives that Satan is still deceiving us and all the world just like he did in The Beginning? [Give examples]
- What is Eve’s response to The serpent? Why is this significant?
- What is it that Satan is tempting Eve and Adam to believe about God? (v.4-5) Do you believe that Satan is still at work in the world deceiving us in this way today? Why?
- Genesis 3 is the Biblical account of how sin, error, and wrong entered the world? What evidence do we see in today’s world of the accuracy of the Genesis account ? [Discuss examples we see in today’s world of mankind’s depravity]
- What does Psalm 51:5 and Genesis 8:21 say about sin and the human condition? How are these helpful, supporting verses for our understanding as it relates to the Doctrine of sin?
- According to Genesis 1:14-19, sin brought a curse upon the earth and all of mankind. What does it tell us about sins curse? How might you categorize the consequences of sin according to verses 14-19? Who is cursed and what is cursed because of sin?
- Is there anything in Chapter 3 that gives us hope despite the depravity of sin we are living in? What does it tell us in verses 20-24? Do you see the gospel in verses 21 and 24? How so?
